VERSE 1:
           D
I’m gonna write a little letter,
      G D
Gonna mail it to my local D.J..
       G
It's a rocking little record,
                    D
I want my jockey to play.
     G
Roll over Beethoven,
        A D
I gotta hear it again today.

VERSE 2:
            D
You know my temperature's rising,
        G D
And the jukebox's blown a fuse.
             G
My heart’s a beating rhythm,
                              D
And my soul keeps a-singin’ the blues.
     G
Roll over Beethoven,
A D
Tell Tchaikovsky the news.

VERSE 3:
          D
I got the rocking pneumonia,
       G D
I need a shot of rhythm and blues.
          G
I think I got it off the writer,
                           D
Sittin' down by the rhythm review.
     G
Roll over Beethoven,
      A D
We're rockin' in two by two.

VERSE 4:
            D
Well if you feel you like it,
                                      D
Well get your lover and reel and rock it.
                 G7
Roll it over and move on up,

Just a trifle further.
D
And reel and rock it,

Roll it over.
     G
Roll over Beethoven,
  A D
A rocking in two by two.

Gonna play my fiddle,

NOTES:
1. “…The vast majority of The Beatles' Chuck Berry covers were sung by Lennon. Indeed, he sang
'Roll Over Beethoven' until 1961, when George Harrison took over on lead. It remained in the group's
set until the end of their US tour in September 1964. It became one of three vocal spots for Harrison
on "With The Beatles", the others being ‘Devil In Her Heart’ and his own ‘Don't Bother Me’.
‘I sang Roll Over Beethoven for With The Beatles - it was a song I liked. I had the Chuck Berry record
and I used to sing it in the clubs.’ - George Harrison, Anthology. …”
2. This is my take on the words and rhythm chords of the Beatles version and doesn’t pretend to
capture the lead riffs which are documented on UG
http://-.--/search.php?search_type=title&value=roll+over+beethoven+beatles and here
--.-/watch?ds49a2b2QmtXbXh4, amongst other sites.
